General leave (household affairs, illness and etc.) and leave on military service
Application period
General leave:
- Before start of the semester for unregistered students
- Enrolled students may leave before taking the final examination
¡Ø Tuition will not carry over for students who go on general leave after completing over half their semester.
Leave on military service: Application must be made at least one week before reporting for duty
General leave periods
A unit of a semester or year, (not to exceed 3 years during the enrollment period.)
(Military leave is not calculated into the period of general leave.)
Required documents
General leave:
- Leave on family affairs: After downloading the documents from the homepage academic information system,
fill them out and submit them to the appropriate department (division).
- Leave on illness: After downloading the documents from the homepage academic information system, fill
them out and attach the medical statement from the general hospital (for hospitalization of one month or
longer), and submit them to the appropriate office of the department (division).
Leave on military service: After downloading the documents from the homepage academic information system, fill them out and attach the copy of the notice for military service and submit them to the appropriate department (division).
Reference information
- New students may not take leave while they are still in their first semester (Exceptions: leave due to illness or
injury, or military leave).
- In the event leave for military service is issued to a student while that student is still on general leave, the
remaining time of the general leave shall be requested to be converted into military service leave.
- If a student prematurely returns from military service or if a student's call-up is postponed, a petition to
withdraw the military leave must be made within one week in order that the remainder of the military leave can be converted to general leave or the student is reinstated with the university.
- Students who have already completed 2/3 of their classes before embarking on either sick leave or military
leave, are entitled to have their grades recognized at their behest.
